The Board of Trustees has been carefully selected to represent a cross section of the Dorset Community and our partners. The Board meets quarterly and is managed through a working committee structure of staff and Trustees covering the areas of Finance and General Purposes, Fundraising, Marketing and PR, HR and Strategy.
Diana Sale Chairman of Life Education Dorset Chairman of Fundraising, Marketing & PR and Strategy Committees A retired Chief Nursing Advisor to West Dorset Health Authority and Management Consultant for Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Diana still has strong links with the Health Service in her role as Non Executive Director of North Dorset PCT. In addition to her stewardship of Life Education Dorset she is also currently Chairman of the newly merged organisation of Joseph Weld & Trimar Hospice and CancerCare Dorset. Diana has witnessed first hand the destruction of many young lives through drug and alcohol abuse. She is proud to be a part of Life Education Dorset as she believes the programmes equip the children with the knowledge and skills to cope better with the complexities of the world of the 21st Century. Keith Adams A founder member of Life Education Centres Dorset, Keith is a retired Environmental Services Officer with Bournemouth Borough Council and a former Advisor to the Association of District Councils and the Safety Executive of Local Authority Liaison Committee. Keith has played a key role in the design and maintenance of the mobile classrooms through the national Design Committee. In addition to his work with Life Education he is a Director of Examiners of the British Judo Association (Southern area), Chairman of the British Judo Association (Hampshire) and Past President of Rotary Club of Bournemouth. David Foot Chairman Finances & General Purposes Committee Dave recently retired as Chief Executive of Global Marine Systems Ltd, a profitable business with a turnover of £600 million per annum. With his business background and expertise, Dave is a valuable member of the Finance Committee. He is also past President of Highcliffe Rotary and Chairman of the Trustees of a Museum. Dr Nick Kosky Mental Health Advisor Nick is the Clinical Consultant of Mental Health, North Dorset Mental Health Trust. As a consultant psychiatrist Nick works in a number of settings in the community, hospitals and the prison service. He knows only too well of the long term effects of drug abuse and mental health and the importance of prevention through education. Felicity Hedger Chairman Human Resources Committee Felicity has lived in Dorset for over thirty years where she and her husband have brought up three children, now all grown up. She has practised as a solicitor during all of that time with Humphries Kirk in its various offices, spending the last fifteen years in Dorchester. Now a Senior Partner, much of her work is with older people advising about Wills etc, but she has a strong interest in educating young children to make the right choices. When Felicity heard about Life Education Dorset she immediately became a donor and feels privileged to serve as a Trustee. As a professional person, heading a legal practice, she is used to decision-making, to listening and to giving advice. Arthur Moseley MBE One of the longest serving Trustees, Arthur is a retired industrialist owning a variety of manufacturing and service companies for which he was awarded his MBE for service to export. A past president of the Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry and an active Rotarian, Arthur is a key member of the board of Trustees. Andrew Smetham Vice Chairman of Trustees After first and higher degrees in the University of London Andrew taught for 25 years in inner London comprehensive schools before moving to Dorset in 1985 as head teacher of The Purbeck School, Wareham. On retirement from that post in 2002 he joined Life Education Dorset as a Trustee to continue to use his immense knowledge and skills gained during his lifelong career as a teacher. Sue Stockham Sue has many years experience of working as a teacher and senior manager in secondary, middle and primary schools, with children aged from 4 to 16. She has been head teacher of Radipole Primary School in Weymouth since 1997 and is currently vice chair of the Chesil Education Partnership, which encompasses all schools and colleges across Weymouth and Portland. She has always been a passionate believer in pastoral care and effective, good quality health education for every child, and is delighted with the current high profile of the Every Child Matters national agenda. Sue has been a supporter of the work of Life Education Dorset for many years, both professionally and as a parent, with her two daughters still remembering their visits to the mobile classroom – though they both have their own careers working with children and young people now! She is pleased to be able to continue her involvement with this vital work as a trustee. |
